is a type of Herb
which appears as a short double stalk of corrupted grass with dead green flowers at the ends. It grows in The Corruption
, on Ebonstone
or corrupted grass, or on Crimstone
in a world with Crimson
, and can be cut by any weapon or tool. It can also be planted in Clay Pots
by using Deathweed Seeds
Deathweed blooms during a Blood Moon and this is the only time that it will drop 1-3 Deathweed Seeds when cut. Deathweed will have a pulsating glow during this time, making it easy to spot. Like other herbs, it can be harvested when not blooming for the herb itself, but will not give you seeds, making this the trickiest herb to cultivate.
Deathweed is used for some of the most useful potions for certain styles of play - a Magic Power Potion is immensely useful for a magic-using characters, and while all characters can gain some benefit, melee characters with heavy armor can greatly benefit from a Thorns Potion against bosses. Some players prefer using Gravitation Potions instead of carefully-constructed arenas for fighting bosses. Battle Potions are helpful for farming purposes, as well, if you have the Deathweed to spare.
As such, many players find setting up a large number of clay pots for farming Deathweed to have a ready supply of Deathweed-based potions when they need it. Because planted seeds can grow surprisingly fast, you may well be able to harvest two whole batches of Deathweed in a single blood moon if you work quickly enough. (And have automated defenses.)
