Why are Hallowed bars named as such? They aren´t really related to the Hallow, and, in fact, it can be removed without rendering them unobtainable as The Destroyer drops them, and none of the Mechanical Worm´s crafting materials are obtained in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.20.30.131 at 08:52:59 June 27 2014

They're not found in the hallow, no, but they are used to create "holy" items, or at least things strongly associated with good or with gods. Excalibur, for example, was the sword given to King Arthur by the Lady of the Lake, and Gungnir was the spear of Odin, leader of the Norse gods. They're meant to be the "good" counterpart of the "evil" demonite/crimtane (which also can be found outside of the corruption and crimson). --Xolroc (talk) 14:22, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

I guess it has something to do with "good" prevailing over "evil". Upon vanquishing the foul mechanical bosses you are given holy bars as a result, and since the Hallow is the "good" of Terraria (minus all the monsters in it trying to kill you) it makes sense to call them "Hallowed Bar(s)".
