The Chain Gun is a Hardmode, post-Plantera Gun that fires Bullets. It can be considered a direct upgrade of the Gatligator, with higher speed and damage, while sharing its 50% chance of not consuming Ammunition and its overall inaccurate firing; though the Chain Gun is slightly more accurate. It has a per-hit damage and rate-of-fire exceeding that of the Megashark, though like the Gatligator it fires in random directions over a wide spread. The Chain Gun is dropped randomly by Santa-NK1 during the Frost Moon event.

Its best Modifier is Godly or Rapid.

Tips

• Chlorophyte Bullets pair well, as their homing ability negates the gun's singular weakness of accuracy.
• Explosive Bullets and Ichor Bullets also pair well.
• When forged with the Rapid prefix, the Chain Gun will gain 25% to speed instead of 15%. This is the same case with the frenzying prefix, and happens due to rounding down its already insane shooting speed (4 to 3).
• The Godly prefix is better for players preferring to save ammo, at the cost of less damage. Rapid is better for DPS. The damage per second for Godly will follow the function: DPS=(36+bullet-roundup(def/2))*60/4*1.09. The damage per second for Rapid will follow the function: DPS=(31+bullet-roundup(def/2))*60/3*1.04

• The gun appears to be a smaller version of the Santa-NK1's arm.
