The Gold Pickaxe is an early game pickaxe, being stronger than the Silver Pickaxe, and weaker than the Nightmare Pickaxe. It has an alternate ore version, the Platinum Pickaxe, which is actually slightly stronger. Like all pickaxes, it is used to mine a majority of blocks and ores. If a world generates with Silver Ore instead of Tungsten Ore, the Gold Pickaxe is the earliest pickaxe the player can obtain that can mine Meteorite and Demonite.
