Pickaxes

Pickaxes are tools used to remove blocks and mine ores. As of Update 1.2 they can remove placed Wood blocks, as well as furniture. However, they cannot remove walls. They can also be used as weapons. Some of the Hardmode-tier pickaxes have slower drill counterparts.

New players spawn with a Copper Pickaxe.

Pickaxes can use modifiers to have increased mining speed like Quick and Light. Accessories with the Violent modifier will not increase mining speed, as only the modifier on the pickaxe itself will.

History

• 1.2.3: Pickaxe Axe now requires 1 soul from each Mechanical boss to craft. Palladium Pickaxe can no longer mine Adamantite and Titanium.

• 1.2.0.3: Chlorophyte Drill and Pickaxe can now mine Chlorophyte

• 1.2: Pickaxes made to remove furniture and wood blocks. Hardmode metals can be made into pickaxes as well as drills.
