Shadow Armor consists of a Shadow Helmet, Shadow Scalemail and Shadow Greaves.
A full set grants a basic 19 defense, equivalent to that of crimson armor. Full set increase 15% in movement speed. Each individual piece worn gives a 7% increase in melee attack speed.
If the full suit is visible, the player leaves an afterimage while running (as with full Necro Armor) and emits shadow particles. Also, the Rocket Boots will emit purple flames (The animation does not change if wearing the Spectre Boots).
It takes a total of 60 Demonite Bars (240 Demonite Ore) and 45 Shadow Scales to craft a full suit of Shadow Armor. Defeating the Eater of Worlds twice can provide enough to create a full suit.
Shadow Armor will also give its set bonus when combined with parts of Ancient Shadow armor.

Trivia
- The Shadow Armor resembles the armor worn by the Dark Knight Cecil in the Super Nintendo game, Final Fantasy IV.
- The Shadow Armor may be a reference to Shadow the Hedgehog, due to the increased movement speed, spiked helmet, and his name.
