Spooky armor is a Hardmode post-Plantera armor set made from Spooky Wood. Wearing the full set increases the wearer's minion capacity by 4 (to a total of 5), along with granting +58% minion damage and creating a glowing effect around the character. It requires a total of 750 Spooky Wood to create the full set.

A full set of Spooky armor provides the following benefits:

• +30 / 27 defense
• +4 / 3 minion slots
• +58% minion damage
• +11% movement speed (tool-tip says 20%, but actual measurements are more like 11.2% on 1.4.4.9)

On Spooky armor's +28% minion damage and +11% movement speed is generally considered superior to Tiki armor's +20% whip range and +5 defense. Summoners who play an active role with a whip and will prefer Spooky over Tiki (such summoners would also chose Obsidian armor over Bee armor pre-hardmode). Post-Moon Lord, Stardust armor is superior to either.

On Spooky armor has one less minion and 3 less defense. Without additional minion capacity accessories/buffs, this makes Tiki armor's minion damage slightly higher (130% × 5 = 650% vs. Spooky's 158% x 4 = 632%). Once an extra minion or sentry is summoned, Spooky armor increases minion damage by 790%, while Tiki armor only increases it by 780%. The more minions that can be summoned, the more damage minions do with Spooky armor. Spooky armor always increases whip damage more than Tiki.

Spooky armor is both the strongest and most expensive armor that is crafted with a form of wood.

Notes

• The total bonuses are composed of the following:
  • 11% minion damage from each piece and 25% from set bonus.
  • +2 minion capacity from the breastplate, and +1 minion capacity from the helmet and leggings each.
  • +1 minion capacity from each piece.
  • +20% increased movement speed from the leggings.

Tips

• If combined with the Necromantic Scroll, Hercules Beetle, Summoner Emblem and Papyrus Scarab, the resulting minions will get a total of 113% increased damage.
• With an exchange rate of 50 per unit of Spooky Wood, crafting and selling Spooky Helmets is the most efficient way to convert Spooky Wood into coins.
• The Spooky Leggings increase walking movement speed from 15 to 18 mph. However, if the player already has boots equipped (e.g. Hermes Boots), the Leggings' movement speed will not have that noticeable an increase to the player's movement speed.

Trivia

• The only difference between male and female sets of Spooky armor seems to be the orange/red markings on the upper breastplate.
• Even in terms of defense, the Spooky armor is the most powerful wooden armor.
• Spooky armor and Pearlwood armor are the only Hardmode armor crafted at a Work Bench.
• The Moon Lord's screen effect causes the Spooky armor to lose its orange/red markings.

• Desktop 1.4.0.1:
  • Overall defense increased from 27 to 30, with each piece gaining 1 defense.
    • Spooky Helmet defense increased from 8 to 9.
    • Spooky Breastplate defense increased from 10 to 11.
    • Spooky Leggings defense increased from 9 to 10.
  • Spooky Breastplate now gives +2 minion count instead of +1.
  • Spooky Leggings now give 20% movement speed.
