There are many items in the game referring to balloons in some capacity. There are jumping accessories, vanity/decorative items, and an enemy. This page serves to list and describe all these items. Follow the links to learn more about each individual item.

Accessories[edit | edit source]

There are two balloon accessories that function identically, but are found in different places, and have very different upgrade trees through the Tinkerer's Workshop. Both increase the regular jump height from 6 blocks to 10½ blocks. This effect does not apply to any other jumps from double jumping, only the initial jump. The effect also does not stack between any of the accessories listed below, whether through equipping multiple accessories or crafting them together.

In decreasing order of jump height (measured in blocks), the best balloon accessories are: Bundle of Balloons (61), Sandstorm in a Balloon (36), Fart in a Balloon (29), Blizzard in a Balloon (25), Sharkron Balloon (23), Cloud in a Balloon (19), Shiny Red Balloon (10), None (6). The Lucky Horseshoe upgrades have the same jump heights.

Shiny Red Balloon[edit | edit source]

The Shiny Red Balloon is an accessory found in Floating Island chests and Sky or Azure Crates. It can be combined with various accessories that provide some form of double jump. The Cloud, Blizzard, and Sandstorm balloons can then be combined into the quadruple-jump accessory Bundle of Balloons. Alternatively, each double-jump balloon can be combined with a fall damage-cancelling Lucky Horseshoe.

Instead of a double jump accessory, one can also combine it with a Honey Comb, and then a Lucky Horseshoe.

The Bundle of Balloons's double-jump effects stack with other double jumps, such as Fart in a Jar or Tsunami in a Bottle and their derivatives, although needing more than 4 double jumps is rarely actually necessary, and using a Frog Leg as secondary accessory instead may prove better for total jump height anyway. The increased height of the first jump, which is the original benefit of the Shiny Red Balloon, does not stack. Although the icon shows a yellow, blue, and green balloon, the item actually uses the sandstorm (yellow), cloud (blue) and blizzard (white) balloons.

Since the Shiny Red Balloon, Lucky Horseshoe, and Blizzard in a Bottle can also be gotten from Crates, they are Renewable. However, the Cloud in a Bottle, Sandstorm in a Bottle, and Honey Comb, and thus their derivatives, are not. Since even large worlds are not guaranteed to have a Sandstorm in a bottle, it may not be possible to craft a Bundle of Balloons. No matter your world generation luck, it is always theoretically possible to craft a White Horseshoe Balloon from crates alone, although it may be faster to generate a new world to search through. The Whoopie Cushion is dropped by Giant Worms and Diggers, and thus renewable.

Balloon Pufferfish[edit | edit source]

The Balloon Pufferfish is an accessory found by Fishing in any biome. It functions identically to the Shiny Red Balloon individually, but it can only be combined with the Tsunami in a Bottle, and then with a Lucky Horseshoe. This provides a total jump height of 23 blocks, which exceeds the regular Cloud and Honey balloons' jump height but is exceeded by any other double-jump balloon. However, the ingredients for the Sharkron Balloon can naturally be found by fishing anywhere, so it may be easier to acquire than the others. Since they are fished up, they are renewable.

Party Balloons[edit | edit source]

Parties have many balloons associated with them. The background continually features balloons rising in the air, the Party Girl sells Silly Balloons, Silly Tied Balloons, and other balloon-related items, and the Clothier sells Bundled Party Balloons and Balloon Animal. These items can also be crafted into other balloon-related items. Since they are purchased, they are renewable.

Enemies[edit | edit source]

During a Windy Day, Slimes can come in being carried by this balloon. The balloon itself does no damage, but may drop various Kites and Paper Airplanes.

Consumables[edit | edit source]

Queen Slime drops this consumable item. It can be thrown to cover the target in sparkly slime, but it only has a cosmetic effect.
