Hornets are flying enemies found in the Underground Jungle. They follow the Flying AI, floating just out of reach and then charging the player, while also firing stinger projectiles, in Expert modeDesktop VersionConsole VersionMobile Version at an increased rate. These stingers have a 1/3 (33.3%) chance to inflict the Poisoned debuff to the player for 10 seconds. In Expert mode, the chance is 1/3 (33.3%) for 20 seconds and 2/3 (66.7%) for 2–10 seconds. They cannot be destroyed with weapons and travel at about the same speed as the darts from a Dart Trap.

Variants[edit | edit source]

All variants of Hornets have identical drops. The Moss Hornet is not a variant of the pre-Hardmode Hornet.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Moss Hornets contribute towards the total for dropping the Hornet Banner, however the banner has no effect on them. Possible bug?

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Though the Dragon Hornet appears to have only one stinger like the Hornet, it can drop up to three.
