Dunerider Boots are an accessory that functions similarly to Hermes Boots, except that the wearer gains an additional speed boost when running on Sand Blocks, Sandstone Blocks, or Hardened Sand Blocks. They can be found in Sandstone Chests in the Underground Desert, and in Oasis Crates or Mirage Crates.

Notes[]

  • The Dunerider Boots have a speed of 30 mph on regular tiles and a speed of 53 mph on any Sand, Sandstone, or Hardened Sand Blocks.
  • The Dunerider Boots' effect also works with the use of Gravitation Potion or Gravity Globe. Since sand blocks are subject to gravity, they would have to be supported by Platforms in order to be walked on the underside.
  • When crafted together with Rocket Boots to make the Spectre Boots, the sand-boosting ability will be lost. It may be better to save them for their bonus on sand.
  • Using Dunerider Boots alongside Sand, Sandstone, or Hardened Sand runways could be considered a pre-Hardmode alternative to Asphalt.

Trivia[]

  • The Dunerider Boots' tooltip is a reference to the science fiction media franchise Dune. The deadly sandworms in Dune are attracted to rhythmic vibrations in the sand, which indicate the movement of prey. To escape the notice of the sandworms, a traveler in the desert must learn to "walk without rhythm" in a manner that simulates the natural sounds of the desert.
