This guide is a guide which walks the player through “beating” the Tutorial.
Getting Started[edit | edit source]
Once you’ve followed the initial directions to complete the start of the Tutorial, the real fun begins. Gather some decent weapons and Armor so you are prepared for whatever it is that you come across while exploring, or even just building or crafting
The Crimson or Corruption Boss Preparation[edit | edit source]
Don’t fight anything in the crimson or corruption yet, but destroy the grass to get either crimson seeds or corrupt seeds so you can safely farm Vile Mushrooms in The Corruption and Vicious Mushrooms in The Crimson.
After you have completed the first two steps, next you should go mining to get better Armor, like Iron armor.
Once the Corruption has spread sufficiently, the farming can begin. Kill as many Eater of Souls as possible in order to get Rotten Chunks, and farm Vile Mushrooms and craft them into Vile Powder. Keep farming until you have 15 Rotten Chunks and 30 Vile Powder. Once you have the required materials, make your way back to the Altar. When you get there, craft Worm Food.
The Eater of Worlds or The Brain of Cthulhu[edit | edit source]
This next step involves defeating the Eater of Worlds for the corruption or the Brain of Cthulhu for the crimson
First, however, you must be prepared:
- Craft a Light's Bane and a Campfire. The Campfire will heal you while the Light's Bane will be used to fight the Eater of Worlds or the Brain of Cthulhu.
- If you made the Corruption or crimson farm away from the spawn area, where you are vulnerable, make an arena and be prepared with decent armor.
The Dungeon[edit | edit source]
This step is completely optional, however highly recommended. To enter The Dungeon, Skeletron must be defeated. Presumably, you should have Shadow armor/Crimson armor, or at least Gold or Silver armor, rendering Skeletron far easier. For strategies, see the Skeletron Guide.
Now The Dungeon is unlocked! Besides the occasional Cursed Skull, the Dungeon should be relatively easy with your current gear. Try to destroy any Water Candles you see, as they increase the spawn rate of enemies in the area. Open all chests you come across, specifically looking for helpful key items:
The Wall of Flesh[edit | edit source]
Now to face the final threat: the Wall of Flesh, the only thing that’s kept you from Hardmode! With your newly acquired Nightmare Pickaxe, you should be able to mine through the Obsidian, which means you should make a hellevator to get down to the underground. Be prepared for a long fall, you may even die from Fall Damage, so it’s a good idea to have either a Lucky Horseshoe or many blocks to build a staircase. It’s also a good idea to store your items in a Piggy Bank or Safe (you’ll need the Merchant to move in to buy these).
At this point, you’ll need to farm Voodoo Demons in order to get the Guide Voodoo Doll. Once you get one, save it, because you’ll need to throw the Doll into the lava to summon the Wall of Flesh. Take caution in killing Voodoo Demons, because if the Guide Voodoo Doll drops into lava, the Wall of Flesh may summon and you could be unprepared for the fight.
Twins[edit | edit source]
This is the real tricky part. It’s almost impossible to make any ‘fast’ progress now, but there is a way. You’ll need to keep killing the Wall of Flesh until you obtain a Laser Rifle. Once you’ve got that, you’ll need to stock up on Mana Potions, which can now be bought from the Merchant.
Your next goal will be to down the twins . They are an easy source of Hallowed Bars, and will allow you to be competent without Cobalt, Palladium, Mythril, Orchalcum, Adamantite, or Titanium with his Souls of Sight. Make sure you are within the spawn area of invincibility, or else The Twins will be practically impossible to beat. The biggest concern for this battle is actually defeating both of them within the day/night cycle, before they run away. It may be useful to use Firework Rockets, however this can be painfully time consuming as it requires you have the Party Girl in your world. A Cursed Flames spell tome or Clockwork Assault Rifle can also help immensely in the battle.
Once you’ve got the Hallowed Bars, there’s not much you can do now. You could place them or sell them, but there’s no Hardmode Anvil to craft anything with it. You could try glitching the oneVerify Demon Altar to break it twice, or maybe find a second one (also via a World Generation glitch). If you do happen to get the second Hardmode Ore, make sure to search around the world and mine them asap, because they’ll allow you to make Hallowed weapons.
If You Made it[edit | edit source]
Kudos to you, you managed to get the world into Hardmode! Progress is made. Your first goal: Destroy your worlds Demon/Crimson Altar, doing this will spawn one of two different types of ores.
The Age of Chlorophyte[edit | edit source]
All people should follow the next step. Of course, that is if you were very, very lucky and got Adamantite into your world.
If you managed to get Adamantite, your first goal will be to craft an Adamantite Forge. That will allow you to craft Chlorophyte weapons and armor. You’ll need to first create an artificial Jungle and craft a Drax, however.
- For melee players, it is recommended they use Turtle armor or Chlorophyte armor with the Chlorophyte Mask. The Chlorophyte Claymore and Chlorophyte Partisan are both good melee weapons.
- For rangers, it is recommended they use Chlorophyte armor with the Chlorophyte Helmet (due to Plantera not being defeated yet, Shroomite armor is impossible to get). The Chlorophyte Shotbow and Chlorophyte Arrows are a good combo for ranged weapons.
- For mages, it is recommended, they use Chlorophyte armor with the Chlorophyte Headgear (Spectre armor is currently inaccessible to the player, as Plantera has not been defeated).
Once you’re all geared up, proceed to the next step.
Side Quest: Plantera[edit | edit source]
Completely optional side-quest. You’ll need an arena if you only have Hallowed armor, and even if you have Chlorophyte armor an arena is recommended. If possible, you can create an artificial Jungle within the spawn area of invincibility for an easy battle.
- Plantera can drop the Flower Pow, a flail weapon, good for melee fighters.
- Plantera can drop the Venus Magnum or Grenade Launcher and Rockets, good for rangers.
- Plantera can drop the Leaf Blower, Wasp Gun, or Nettle Burst, all good for mages.
- Plantera can drop the Pygmy Staff, good for summoners. It will also cause the Witch Doctor to sell more items if the player has a Pygmy Staff on them.
- Plantera will rarely drop The Axe, the best Hamaxe in the game.
Ocram[edit | edit source]
Now for Ocram. With your new gear and spawn area invincibility, the only problem that remains is dealing damage. The Venus Magnum (from earlier, if you farmed Plantera) or Megashark (requires farming in the ocean) can deal massive amounts of damage, especially if you use Chlorophyte Bullets.
Endgame[edit | edit source]
Once you’ve farmed Ocram sufficiently, you should be able to craft Dragon armor, Titan armor, and/or Spectral armor, the endgame armors of a glitched Tutorial. After this, you can take a few screenshots and show off to your friends, but it’s also highly recommended that you start a real world. It’s much easier than beating the Tutorial. And... that was all pointless because you can not save your tutorial world.
