Instruments

From Terraria Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Instruments are items that produces distinct specific notes or sounds when used by the player via the Use / Attack button. Currently there are eight playable instruments in the game. The pitch/note played is controlled by the distance of the cursor from the player, except for The Axe, which plays a random note each time the item is used.

Playable Guitars[edit | edit source]

In order from closest to player, to furthest away, the chords played are as follows: A Minor - G Major - E Major - D Major - C Major - F Major.

Specific Notes[edit | edit source]

For the harps and the bell, the sound's pitch is determined by the distance between the center of the character and the point clicked. Clicking the center of the character plays middle C, while clicking at a distance of at least that of the top or bottom of the screen plays C6 (two octaves above middle C). The smallest interval between notes the harp can play is a whole tone, or two semitones. A difference of 1/24 of the screen height equals an interval of a whole tone. The same distances will apply to the drum set. Verify

Random Notes (Pre 1.4)[edit | edit source]

The Axe plays a random note each time the item is used Use / Attack. Even though The Axe is an autoswing hammer/axe, the sound only plays for the first click.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • All guitar type instruments are acquired via a drop.
  • Pianos cannot be played as instruments, and only function as furniture.
  • Unlike music boxes, these instruments are used by the player, and do not provide background music.
