The Mud Bud is a pet summon item sold by the Zoologist after defeating Plantera. It summons Plantero, a miniature version of Plantera, that follows the player.

Plantero keeps pace with the player by flying in a manner similar to Plantera's second form.

The Plantera Seedling is a similar item, however it is exclusive to Master Mode, and is directly dropped by Plantera upon defeat with a 1/4 (25%) chance.

Trivia

• The Mud Bud is stated to be Redigit's favorite pet item in the game.
• The pet looks similar to Plantera’s map icon.
• The name Plantero is a pun mixing the words Plantera and sombrero.
• The pet was suggested by a player and Redigit noticed it and decided to add it in. [1]
