The Ragged Caster is a Hardmode enemy found in the post-Plantera Dungeon.

They rapidly teleport and fire three shots before teleporting to a new location on screen. Unlike the other Hardmode dungeon casters, the Ragged Caster will not teleport immediately after being hit. However, Ragged Casters have no delay between teleporting and firing their shots.

A Ragged Caster's projectiles will home in on the player, and inflict the Blackout debuff when they hit. This is a stronger version of the Darkness debuff. It greatly lowers the player's light vision. Unlike the Darkness debuff, equipping a Blindfold, Ankh Charm, or Ankh Shield will not provide immunity to this debuff.

Ragged Casters are immune to the Poisoned and Venom debuffs.

Ragged Casters are much more common in dungeon areas backed by Slab Walls.

Like several other post-Plantera dungeon enemies, Ragged Casters have different variants with slightly different statistics.

Tips[edit | edit source]

Comparison between Blackout debuff (right) and no debuffs (left)
  • A weapon that has homing projectiles will be extremely effective against ragged casters.

History[edit | edit source]

  • Desktop 1.2.0.2: Blackout debuff can no longer be removed by right-clicking it.
