Merged into the Environments page[edit source]

This article, while well written, is so small that I'd say we merge it - along with all the rest of the biome pages - into the overarching Environment page. MarekkPie 14:53, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

The entire intro to this page is written using depth measurements that are not universal to all map sizes - I know for sure that on a small map, the underworld starts at around -1450 feet, so obviously lava does not start appearing deeper than that on small maps. I would recommend either rewriting it so that it has appropriate measurements for all map sizes, or removing the depth data completely and leaving the qualitative data in there. 98.169.19.67 15:42, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Gem Rarity Conflict[edit source]

This page states that as one decreases in depth, gem seams become larger. However, the Gems page implies that depth does not matter when hunting gems. Can someone clarify on both pages? --Colonel Thirty Two 01:08, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Different depths cited[edit source]

If the measurements vary according to world size not have a chart?

Also it is not mentioned for which world size the depths cited come from rendering them completely irrelevant.

Measurement of Start Depth[edit source]

I am extremely doubtful of the -850ft mark being the start of the cavern level, given that I have a large world where the cavern level starts at 350ft below Level, or -350ft. Perhaps the author meant -850ft below the very surface, i.e. from where you initially spawn. I would like this to be changed, since this error also coincides with errors in the start depth of the Underground Jungle.

Enchanted Sword link[edit source]

I don't know the editing tools very well for this wiki, but the link for the Enchanted Sword in the item list should point directly to the item, instead of the generic landing page. I tried to fix it, but it then broke the image. Can anyone fix it? --Dragonmanweb (talk) 01:59, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

EDIT : The image is named "Enchanted Sword" instead of "Enchanted Sword (item)". The Template il2l didn't work with a different name and image. Someone have to renamed the image and everywhere it is located. -- Dinoxel discussion 02:07, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
I renamed the image. I left a redirect to give me time to go through the wiki and change all the links :) – Ferretwings (talk) 22:04, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

separating in two layers[edit source]

i conducted some farming experiments. clearly there is a difference in drops in function of depth.

  • i would suggest that the main difference occurs when lava appears. enneemies spawn and drops are then almost entirely different when you are below this limit.

but it could be progressive , there may be a gradient of most dangerous monsters appearing. for example: unded miners/tim. they dont spawn when armored skeleton spawn, they more or less replace them when there is lava.

  • or maybe the lava layer is merely the "end game" in terms of depth, with rare spawns appearing porogressively between the dirt-stone limit and the water-lava limit. after this, nothing changes until the underworld.
  • in any case, lava layer seem to exist by itself. we cant just make assumption, of the homogeneity of this enormous layer. we should at least mention it.

    • I agree. There are definitely two sub-layers. As mentioned, only the lower layer has lava pools, Tim/Rune Wizards or, as of 1.3.1, geysers. Morenohijazo 15:37, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

Moving[edit source]

We should move this page to Cavern, not Caverns. --IosKent (Talk Page - Contribs) 03:29, 6 November 2016 (UTC)--
