Normal and Blooming Pictures[]

I believe it would be a good idea for each herb page to have a picture of each plant in bloom and not in bloom so it is easier for someone looking for the plant to identify them. Plants such as fireblossom, death weed are rarely in bloom while others like daybloom and moonglow are often in both phases. If anyone could get pictures of each phase for each of the 6 herbs it would be a great help. --71.55.138.194 14:50, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

I agree. --ILiaWneK 18:00, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Duplicate pages[]

I created the plants page thinking that an article of that type hadn't been created yet. What should be the best course of action? ILiaWneK 17:56, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

I like the name Herbs better, but I think we should move plants to herbs Null(T-C)
So we should move the contents on the plants page onto the herbs page and leave a redirect? --ILiaWneK 18:58, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Plants is a better name for the page and the plants page is much more organized. Some of them I wouldn't really consider to be herbs. --71.55.138.194 19:02, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Maybe, but plants means bushes, tall grass, cactus, etc. Maybe we should keep both? Herbs page for the plants you put in potions and plants for thorny bushes, grass, etc.? Null(T-C) 19:10, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Forgot about other non-potion plants. Your suggestion is definitely the best then. So we are not conflicting with each other by editing at the same time and since you are probably more familiar with wiki formatting than me I guess you can do the edits. --71.55.138.194 19:14, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I forgot to say, it would also remove the need to have separate pages for Cactus and cactus item as it would be here. We could take Thorny Bush and move it here to get more views. Not sure about Grass though. By the way, it would also remove the page called Mushrooms which is badly setup. I think this is a great idea. I'll start. Null(T-C) 19:26, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Redirected Plants here for now. you can start an overview about all types of plants there and link to the respective pages. we have herbs, thorny Bushes, trees, cacti, grass, mushrooms, sunflowers and most likely i forgot sth. ;) – Flying sheep 20:04, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the info. Null(T-C) 20:11, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Sheep. I'll probably get on it sooner or later. (around the same time I actually make an account lol)--71.55.138.194 20:15, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I'd just like to point out that there's a Plant Life page which may conflict with the idea you guys have. --ILiaWneK 20:45, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Good point. we should probably move that one to Plants and populate/improve it. – Flying sheep 20:47, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm roughly 60% finished. It's turning out good. The hard thing is keeping ITEM information on the ITEM page and the PLANT information on the PLANTS page. I'm not sure what to do with plant life. Null(T-C) 20:53, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Just a little update-taking a short break. Null(T-C) 20:54, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Hey, if you're gonna move around the info, do it all at once rather than leave details in limbo while you "take a break".--66.90.233.119 21:02, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

That would be preferred. I don't like seeing all my work gone D: --ILiaWneK 21:05, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I think I shouldn't add trees. It's quite a bit of information. What do you guys think?Null(T-C) 21:09, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Why did you remove the table? it’s perfectly fine on Herbs. – Flying sheep 21:35, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
PS: you know that the bulk of info should stay on the individual pages and the Plants page should provide an overview? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flying sheep (talkcontribs) at 21:36, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
No. Those pages are for the items, and this page is about the plants (excluding thorny bushes which might be a candid for deletion) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Null (talkcontribs) at 21:51, 25 June 2011
What? But the item “Vile Mushroom” and the mushroom “Vile Mushroom” are (e.g.) the same. I thought that we do it like with Environments and the individual environments or Potions and the individual potions. ‒ Flying sheep 22:10, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Ha, got the solution: transclusion! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flying sheep (talkcontribs) at 22:16, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Transclusion[]

This page should be identical to the transcluded section on Plants with the addition of the nav box. -- Wynthyst Curseicon talk 00:13, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Is this strictly necessary?[]

I don't see any real reason for the inclusion of this edit, but the user in question has re-added it after I removed it. In my opinion, the information given in the note is quite obvious, and it would be only worth mentioning if it was not so. --Xolroc (talk) 21:55, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

I agree that it is pretty obvious. Seems the user finds it rather important though, even adding a reference. The "essence" of the note seems to be that herbs do not bloom only once, so I've tried to clarify that. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 18:55, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

You can harvest Mature stage herbs with Staff of Regrowth on Desktop.[]

You can harvest mature herbs with the Staff of Regrowth to get seeds in Desktop version. You can't use planter boxes or clay pots while doing so, and maybe that's why this is falsely said if that's a difference between versions. I've only played Desktop, so I wouldn't know what differences there are, but I do know I've been harvesting mature stage herbs with the Staff of Regrowth for a while on the only version I've played. I even tested it in 1.4 before typing this out just to be sure, using the growth stages of Shiverthorns as a reference to be sure that it was mature before trying. The only reason I'm not editing it myself is in case someone can clarify if my speculated reason for the distinction is correct. Chronstellation (talk) 14:01, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the remark. This addition has been made three months ago, so it's possible that something in regard to this was changed in 1.4.1, but given your recent test and the fact that the Staff of Regrowth page supports it and doesn't mention anything in History, it may have simply been an error on the original editor's side. Maybe I'm overlooking something, too, though. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 20:21, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
