Upwards hoiks (and possibly hoiks in other directions) don't seem to work when the player is traveling too fast. For example, I tried to mount "hoik 1", and I had Frostspark Boots on, and it put me between the starting "teeth". I don't know what's the speed limit yet.
The ability to use platforms to start a hoik[]
I recently found out how to use hoiks, and It seems that the ability to use platforms at the start of Hoiks is often ignored for the fact that using actuators can prevent accidentally boarding your hoik. I just wanted to remind everyone that you can block swap the first tooth on a hoik with a platform (remember to hammer the block into tooth shape before doing so) to make it so that you can board the hoik without the need for actuators. -MeleeGamer
