Lanterns do not stack 99 max, they stack 999 max. I'm not sure if I can edit that so I leave this comment here, someone can do with it what they want. But not just one type, Slime Lantern and Living Wood Lantern exceed 99 for me (999 is untested, but I don't think 250 exists anymore).
