Hallowed Desert

Can someone confirm if they can spawn in the Hallowed Desert? I really don't know, and I don't have that many Normal Mode worlds, much less any that are actually in hardmode. 172.249.169.192 02:34, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Also like, can someone tell me HOW to release a lacewing you caught

Because I have 3.. and it just drops as an item

EDIT: Actually no nevermind it didn't spawn there for like 4 days in a row even when i used battle potions. I have an entire hallowed desert and yes, the prismatic lacewing does spawn at hallowed desert in the surface, i already got 3 of them in there, but only 1 per night. 168.181.254.162 07:48, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

I've confirmed that Prismatic Lacewing can spawn after 12 AM, I've got 1 at Surface Hallow between 1-2 AM. It's also somehow very rare to have 2 Prismatic Lacewing spawned at one night — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.252.129.34 at 08:22, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Does it even exist?

My guess is you are being supremely unlucky, my condolences. My best advice would be to take a Battle Potion and Water Candle, turn up the spawn rate if you're in Journey mode, run around the surface Hallow at night making sure there aren't backwalls preventing them from spawning, or even go to Builder's Workshop if you're not opposed to cheating. <MinerB4> Maybe you should try to make a farm for the hallow in a separate world by destroying any nearby area within 1000 blocks, set up Spawn Increasing (buff or debuff?) and run around until one spawms, You should also attempt this in Journey Mode because there you can change the Enemy Spawn Rate to 10x and then soo if it exists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.42.141.163 at 02:36, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Do you have a NPC town set up in your Hallow? It's possible that, due to being internally classified as an enemy, your town is suppressing Lacewing spawns.Pillowofpotatoyay (talk) 04:31, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Guide to Critter Companionship

If the Prismatic Lacewing is classified as an enemy, would the Guide to Critter Companionship prevent its killing or not? Could someone find this out? CompuGenetics (talk) 07:43, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

In that regard, the Prismatic Lacewing is considered a critter. It is affected by the Guide To Critter Companionship and is protected from being killed by the player. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 15:23, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Tips

You need to fight Plantera or else it can’t spawn. It must also be between 7:30PM and 12:00AM for it to spawn. Do not fight it at day, it is a dungeon guardian with lower defense (I learned this the hard way). Using water candles or battle potions increase spawn rate these buffs stack! Lacewing will spawn anywhere in the hallow at night as far as I know, refer to the wiki. All drops will drop with the chance shown, no matter what. You will get the bow given enough fights. AmsterWikis (talk) 03:40, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Just an additional note, as OP seemed interested in farming specifically within an "NPC housing environment": yes, this should be fine. As with most critters, the Prismatic Lacewing can spawn near NPCs. In fact, my understanding is that the presence of NPCs will maximize critter spawning by replacing what would otherwise be enemy spawns with critter spawns. Spawns once per night?

The wiki says it spawns during 7:30 PM - 12:00 AM, saying it only spawns once naturally. You can get more than one per night if there is a blood moon, would that count as natural spawning? If so, should we change the information on the site?

Can it get killed by spikes or an NPC?

Say it flew into spikes. Would that kill it, or would it be unaffected because it counts as a monster? also, is it targeted by NPCs because it counts as monster?
