What is an "Environmental Block"? Is that just any block that is found naturally...? --GauHelldragon 10:10, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

My guess is that it is a soil? Environmental Block redirects to Biome, so that doesn't really mean anything. Not sure "Sand Blocks are special soils" is grammatically correct though. happypal (talk • contribs) 10:20, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

How much sand blocks are needed to get desert background?[]

I'm going to look for the answer myself, but it will take quite some time since I have sand blocks to place.... but it's said for ebonstone and pearlstone that 200 pieces will make a biome, right now I guess 10 height x 20 width may do the trick, so I'm going to test it. If anyone know how exactly it should be done, please respond.

Actually the desert page says at least 1,500 sand to make a desert biome. !!Error: {{unsigned}}: Missing user name!

possible bug?[]

I placed a full stack of sand (999) and used the clentaminator to change it to pearlsand. Then I mined it and found I had only 601 pearlsand... for some reason I'm missing more than 1/3 of the total.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 17:12, 8 July 2014‎ (UTC) (talkcontribs) at 99.98.200.245

I tested in-game (by making a pile of 999 Sand Blocks onto a row of Wood Platforms before converting them) and ended up with 996 Pearlsand Blocks. I'm not sure what happened with the 3 last ones, though I guess they were lost when the game had to calculate falling blocks + piles of drops + item stacking. However, on a second attempt I ended up with 999 Pearlsand Blocks. I'm not sure what could have caused you to lose as much as 1/3rd, but if the amount of blocks returned can be off because of failing game calculations then I assume it can be traced to the computer's performance. I may be wrong, of course. I suggest you do some further testing to see if the problem persists - if it does then it's likely a noteworthy bug. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 02:17, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Making a gif[]

Does someone can create a gif with any sand blocks for crafting purposes ? --Dinoxel talk 14:35, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

Sand in undergrounds spots[]

Should we mention that both loose and hardened sand blocks also forms as pockets at the Underground layer in addition to deserts and oceans? --Superwill771 (talk) 20:35, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

New falling-sand behavior goes beyond changelog.[]

The changelog says "Dropped sand and other falling tiles that cannot land as tiles will now turn into items to pick up". In practice, the blocks turn into items when they fall onto a torch, Minecraft style. This is particularly interesting, because there wasn't actually a problem with sand falling on torches -- it would just land on the torch and become a block as usual, supported by said torch. The only issue was burying the light sources for your sand farm. ;-) The new change means you don't actually need to make space to place-and-mine anymore, just stick a torch at the base of a wall and fire away. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 00:18, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Verification of sand.[]

Can verify that variants of sand fall through platforms, yet pure sand cannot. --Trevorbgamer (talk) 21:47, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
