Minor changes[]

I changed a few things in ==notes==:

  • best modifier information
  • approximate number of blocks the beam will travel
  • fixed a minor grammatical error

I also removed the Notes stating that the beam will bounce off terrain, and that the item is rarely dropped by necromancers since both had already been said in the general description. Various other informative and grammatical changes. I felt these changes required mention as they are extensive compared to the current size of the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 16:20, 2013 October 8‎ (talkcontribs) at Jordan7890

Damage drop with repeated use?[]

Does anyone have more details about that? How much, how long it lasts. etc? --MentalMouse42 (talk) 11:55, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

I think whoever added that might have meant projectile damage drops with each enemy hit, not the staff itself like I'm lead to believe from reading the page. After a quick glance couldn't find anything weapon specific, but projectile has if (this.type == 294) this.damage = (int) ((double) this.damage * 0.8); Also, if it is about the projectile, it's not really unique, pulse bow comes to mind, althogh that also drops damage on ricochets. 84.248.82.139 20:13, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
That would make more sense than some sort of unique debuff. Dropping damage by 20% per hit does seem like an important point, and a limit to the staff's power. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 21:55, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
Hunted down the edit that changed the wording, old version used to say: "Note: Beams do less damage per consecutive enemy hit." and "This weapon is particularly effective against long, segmented enemies like Wyverns if fired at their whole length. However, 'diminishing returns' when used against them post 1.2.0.3 has rendered it far less effective against enemies such as the Destroyer, as only 5 or so of the many hits will hit for any significant damage." 84.248.82.139 05:53, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Possible inspiration.[]

I was going through the cosmetics of this old game, You might've heard of it. It's called World of Warcraft.

Sarcasm aside, Point is, The "Staff of Isolation" very closely resembles this. I don't care to look into the dates, But I figured I should bring it up, In case someone wants to confirm/add a trivia section.

In-game.
