Carrot Unlock Method: Reposted

Apologies if I've posted this incorrectly, as I am new to this wiki.

It appears that yesterday, the page for the Carrot pet item was updated with instructions on how to access the item without the CE. I see a comment several months ago wherein this issue was dealt with before, and the edits adjusted accordingly, so it seems fitting that this be done again. If I've posted in error, please let me know. :) Leinfors (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

I reverted the entry to the previous edit to remove the instructions. TunnelKing (talk) 18:28, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Breaker Blade Trivia

I looked up in the rules about having to receive staff confirmation for submitted trivia items, and I wanted to make a submission to the Breaker Blade page. Underneath is the info I wish to add.

  • The Breaker Blade could possibly be a reference to the Buster Sword, the weapon used by Cloud, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII, as not only do it's size and shape bear similarity, the name itself is synonymous as well. 23:46, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

This trivia has popup up multiple times on that pages and removed an equal amount of times. Due to the lack of real evidence, resulting in it 'could possibly be', it is better to just leave it out. Otherwise we end up with long lists of possible references, which we like to avoid. --0icke0 (talk) 00:13, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
As a heavy Final Fantasy fan as well as a fan of various manga, anime, and other Japanese products, I can say that Cloud's Buster Sword is certainly not the only of its kind, nor is it the first. One notable example that comes to mind is the Berserk franchise, which started out in '88. While the protagonist's sword of that franchise is called something different, it is a similarly massive blade. There are other examples that are a bit closer to the Buster Blade, but most of them are lesser known or themselves were intended as references to the Buster Sword. The Breaker Blade could simply be a reference to all the massive swords found in Japanese media. Though it is in my personal opinion likely a reference to the Buster Sword, it is a bit too ambiguous as it is so I agree with 0icke0. 04:29, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Website "upgrade" that's downgrading adv. mobile ease of access

Sorry about the sloppy and likely improperly placed post, but I'm at a loss as to how and where to post this where I'm currently at. None of the 'help' stuff was very helpful at all, and not from lack of trying. I was lucky to even have access to this feature since the normal spot for 'new discussion' is gone in this awkwardly formatted style.

Something must have changed recently (with on a day's time) with this wiki site's default style/formatting, because now it appears as a partly buggy, limited access, 'mobile version' of the wiki site, and I can't return things back to the 'desktop' format that I'm used to from client-side.

Mobile version of websites have always seemed more awkward on my Note 3 than the Desktop version, and have always tried to get the full site whenever possible. Buttons and links maybe a bit small, but it is much easier to navigate and view regardless of that shortcoming. Plus the formatting looks much better and is just plain easier to follow.

Anyway, on an Android OS (up to date), Galaxy Note 3 (yes, a kind of dated device), using the Chrome Browser (mostly updated, but no change before and after this issue), the side menu is now tacked on to the bottom of the site, and now there is some mobile-like menu button at the top (the common three bar/line icon). It claims to be the 'Full Site', and the browser's toggle to 'Request Desktop Site' is pretty much ignored, giving no difference in appearance regardless of which way it is toggled. Selecting the Mobile Site link on the webpage makes things even more stripped down and worse, and the light font color on a white background all but hides the Full Site link.

Could someone please tell whoever is in charge of this formating to please allow Desktop/Full Site again? I loved how it was before the change, and was using this info site for Terraria info because it allowed for near totally override of the 'mobile format'.

Thanks for reading, and again, sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk)

I have notified someone who should be able to resolve this issue, although it may take some time to fix. --0icke0 (talk) 23:58, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. The link to "someone" was helpful, I and was able to see the response they got. Of course there wasn't much of a response, but at least someone in charge knows. I understand it will take awhile, but I do hope it gets fixed soon.

NPC page format

I'd like to arrange the NPC pages so they all follow the same format. (btw, your "Standard sections" don't reflect the same order shown in either the Enemy page or Item page formats.) The NPC pages don't currently seem to follow a specific format. I suggest keeping all the info the player is more likely to need near the top, and the more trivial information near the bottom. Also, should each word in the section headers be capitalized?

I suggest section headers in this order:

Items Sold (or other NPC help)
Quest Rewards
See Also

(I'm volunteering myself for all the re-arranging involved, I just need a set format to follow) --Ferretwings (talk) 22:12, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

I think this is more or less the order most NPC pages follow. It might be easier if you pointed out an example NPC page and let us know how you'd like to change it. As for section headers, no, they shouldn't have all words capitalized; they aren't proper names and aren't generally handled that way here. Equazcion (talk) 02:34, 3 Mar 2016 (UTC)
I realize it's probably just my OCD kicking in, but it drives me nuts that the NPC pages don't all order their sections the same way. Just about every single NPC page follows a slightly different format.
For instance, the section headings on the Stylist page are ordered:
Current order
  • Items
  • Quotes
  • Names
  • Notes
  • Trivia
  • History
I would change to
  • Items
  • Notes
  • Names
  • Quotes
  • Trivia
  • History
And the section headings on the Nurse page are ordered:
Current order
  • Names
  • Notes
  • Trivia
  • Quotes
  • Achievement
  • History
I would change to
  • Notes
  • Achievement(s)
  • Names
  • Quotes
  • Trivia
  • History
--Ferretwings (talk) 04:39, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
You're right, names and quotes should be further down. The few NPC pages I checked randomly didn't have that issue. You can feel free to go ahead and re-order them. Equazcion (talk) 04:59, 3 Mar 2016 (UTC)

Level elevation=Surface level=0 feet?

I've been seeing some phrases that are probably all identical: "Level elevation", "Surface level" and "0 feet".
For players who have not yet acquired the Depth Meter, "level elevation" would be a confusing term. I find "surface level" a confusing term, when used to explain the Depth Meter, however it probably shouldn't have been used in that way, and it's an easy fix.
If they all mean the same, I'll add it to the Layers page (since that is where "Depth" redirects), or perhaps the Depth Meter page may make more sense. A simple definition of Level elevation: "Depth of 0 feet, also known as 'surface level'(?), which is displayed as 'level' by the Depth Meter, GPS, PDA, and Cell Phone." At least those who search the term, can find the definition. --Ferretwings (talk) 18:40, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

You can clarify that on either or both pages, sure. Although "Surface" is often used to describe the entire Surface layer, from zero up to Space, so I'm not sure if that should be included. If "Surface level" is used in articles to describe zero depth, that should probably be changed. Equazcion (talk) 13:28, 11 Mar 2016 (UTC)

Suspicious Looking Skull: Can it be crafted with Titanium Bars?

A couple of editors have tried to insert a recipe for crafting the Suspicious Looking Skull using Titanium Bars, but their edits are eventually reverted. Can we get confirmation? Perhaps we should discuss it on the Talk page, rather than just reverting the edits. --Ferretwings (talk) 13:32, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

Apparently the 1.2.4 console/mobile updates brought the ability to craft it using Titanium [1]. Equazcion (talk) 13:44, 11 Mar 2016 (UTC)

Reducing enemy spawn rates

There are 3 buffs that reduce enemy spawn rates. Do we have any data on them? This is what is listed in the wiki:

Item Buff Enemy spawn reduction
SunflowerSunflower Happy!.png Happy! -
Peace CandlePeace CandleDesktop VersionConsole Version Peace Candle (buff).png Peace Candle (buff) -
Calming PotionCalming Potion Calm.png Calm 17%

If the Water Candle and Peace Candle cancel each other out, does that mean their rate of increase and decrease are the same? 33%?

Template:Crafts first sub row

The Alchemy Table in "Template:Crafts first sub row" needs a pc icon, since it was only introduced in –Ferretwings (talk) 18:33, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

I made a short-lived attempt to do this but my attempts broke the display in various ways. I don't have the time I once did to sandbox test and figure this out but if anyone comes up with working code feel free to post it. {{crafting recipe}} could also use it. Equazcion (talk) 19:18, 22 Mar 2016 (UTC)
Got it done now. Equazcion (talk) 23:33, 23 Mar 2016 (UTC)

Spectral armor recipes

The Spectral armor page has been edited so often, I think the numbers may be wrong.

Console/Mobile changed the number of souls required for Titan armor when they updated to the PC 1.2.2, and I'm wondering if they changed the recipes for Spectral armor as well. I see they changed the recipes for Dragon armor... I'll need to go edit the recipes I recently added.

Do any of the admins have access to the Console/Mobile version? –Ferretwings (talk) 21:21, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

I have the mobile version, but I don't play it and I'm nowhere near being able to check Hardmode recipes. These things are much more difficult to verify in console/mobile since the developer of those doesn't let us access their source code. The forum is probably the best place to request that info from players. Equazcion (talk) 21:33, 25 Mar 2016 (UTC)
I found it on the Console Version History page. I guess I should have checked there first. To answer my own question... Yes, all three armor recipes were reduced, and the armors got new sprites in the same Console 1.02 update. I'll fix the recipes. –Ferretwings (talk) 04:26, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

I'm assuming the wiki doesn't support cheating, and I should just undo this edit? --Ferretwings (talk) 05:08, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Then I'm assuming we should chuck out the entire Cheating section on the page Guide:Making Money? LordofEditing (talk) 01:49, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Actually, user-made guides follow different rules than the main wiki. After I first asked the question, I did some research into the history of that guide, and also looked through the noticeboard archives. We wouldn't allow the content on the main wiki pages because it isn't part of normal gameplay. Although, I'm not sure why we allowed the Map viewers page and Inventory editors page in the main wiki, I'll need to check with an admin who's been around longer than I have. – Ferretwings (talk) 03:36, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
We keep glitch exploits off the main pages, since they shift focus away from documenting the official gameplay element being described (plus they're more difficult to verify). Inventory editors and map viewers tend to be respected software at the official forum, thought of more as testing tools than "cheats", which I suppose is why they haven't been confined to Guide pages. They could probably go in either page space. Equazcion (talk) 03:59, 30 Aug 2016 (UTC)

Minor changes to main page needed

The main page is missing info regarding the availability of the Wii U release of the game.

Also another minor tweak is that the store icon for the PlayStation version is out of date.

The new store logo is File:PlayStation Network Store icon.png

Sony Entertainment Network is no longer used --Kmg90 (talk) 20:10, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

I'll handle it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. --Ferretwings (talk) 20:40, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Unable to edit one of the Pirate's quotes

I am attempting to encase the Pirate's quotes in quotation marks to follow the style set by the other NPC pages. I have added them successfully to all quotes except the one concerning Moby Dick, it blocks me from saving changes when I edit that line. Could someone with the permissions to do so please add the missing quotation marks? Robbyo4 (talk) 15:25, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

File-upload spam

We've experienced quite a bit of file-upload spam. Is there a way we can limit file uploads to users who's accounts are more than a day old? – Ferretwings (talk) 19:33, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

I have edited one of the abuse filters which should prevent future vandalism of whatever organization was doing this. Other than that I would prefer not to block new users from uploading files, as this is done quite frequently for valid purposes. --0icke0 (talk) 08:47, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Suspicious account

An account was recently created UserProfile:ControllerModz that appears to be for commercial purposes... but the user hasn't actually done anything yet. Do we wait for them to cross the line? Or are we proactive? – Ferretwings (talk) 23:34, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Blocked him. This is not a place to advertise a businesses, even on your own user page. --0icke0 (talk) 08:15, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Console notice(s)

With the fact that terraria is on the console version and with the split of legacy from current consoles will there be a way to identify what items are available or not? IE. When 1.3 comes to console the 360 version will not be seeing these things. The Xbox One will be but when stuff like getting Logic Gates available to players on console and then the players who have the 360 version will see that and think they have it and end up finding out its not. DragoHanter (talk) 17:11, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

I got an idea a while back to create a header similar to the "Desktop-Only" type we have now, which will list the platforms for which an item (or event) is not available. For example, on the Dye page, it might say in bold letters "Not available in the DS3 version." We will definitely come up with something, as there are platforms that may exclude certain items. – Ferretwings (talk) 18:16, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
I'd say have it setup in a way that adds to the item box. Legacy console: yes/no Desktop: yes/no Mobile: yes/no It would just add a few lines to the box just like how weapons have their data stats listed. Unless its not an item but a feature or event like console's christmas theme events then in that case It would just be a header on the page saying *console's only / Some items may not apply to legacy console's* and so on. Just an idea off the top of my head. DragoHanter (talk) 02:16, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Global AF - New user adding link at end or in heading

I cannot even write the issue here without triggering the filter..... --Grinapo (talk) 16:34, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Seems that I can add a section, if it does not contain any link whatsoever, but I cannot update a page with normal text. Anyway, wanted to update the terraria server to the newest version but the filter obviously rejetced the update as it have contained a link. To the download. :-) --Grinapo (talk) 16:35, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

I've updated the page. Sorry about the filter, its a global filter, so we as admins can't even change it, but those filters are needed to prevent vandalism. --0icke0 (talk) 22:59, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

I have successfully added the new version link to the DL page. Who says there ain't no progress in this world? ;-) --Grinapo (talk) 08:24, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

This filter is dumb

When I was editing the Stardust armor page, my changes were constantly being rejected for no reason whatsoever. It wouldn't allow me to link to an external wiki, and most curiously yet frustratingly of all, wouldn't allow me to say certain words, such as "anime", "manga", "Jojo", and "bizarre". I put in symbols exactly identical to certain letters to bypass the filter, but that doesn't change the fact that this is still an issue. Here's a picture of the error I kept getting: (Please don't question why I have Yandere Simulator wiki on an open tab.) Serensetti (talk) 22:03, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

It seems you've solved your own problem just now. There are no filters of this nature, pretty sure the only filter we have (if any) is a profanity filter. I'm pretty sure this problem was caused by trying to put in a link to an external website, which could be malicious. TOTORO01 (talk) 22:11, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
If you look at the post above this, it talks about a global filter preventing links. TOTORO01 (talk) 22:16, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
I just checked the filter settings. We don't allow any reference to Jojo or that manga on the Stardust armor page. – Ferretwings (talk) 22:19, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Some pages have their own specific filters to prevent certain trivia items from being posted. See trivia rules. People tend to note when something in the game looks or sounds like something they saw somewhere else, and assume some intended connection. Jojo was apparently a frequent posting on the Stardust page, even though there's probably little evidence tying it to the game other than some possibly incidental similarities, so it got a filter. Revive the outdated Android inventory editing page

I recently found a method to modify values in the latest 1.2.12785 version, I made a video as a proof of concept but can't post the link. Not being able to place the link ANYWHERE make it difficult for someone to use the video as a guide to revive the page... DVslp5LtD0 <---that's the video's unique URL extension the site is that popular one for streaming that starts with "you" since I apparently cant say its name either Also, I am unable to post comments or replies on anyone's talk page including my own. The message says I haven't confirmed my email but I've had this curse account for two years. Shadowsyllvet (talk) 12:09, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

I was able to embed the youtube video on the existing page. Try the same embed code next time, and avoid creating new pages with external links, as those tend to trigger spam filters. External links are also touchy when you're a "new" user, and can easily trigger spam filters.
I changed the link above and below to reflect the pages new location, this was the last page leading to that old redirect. Shadowsyllvet (talk) 10:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with the error you're receiving when attempting to post to people's talk pages. You might want to check out and contact Curse directly about that. You could also try double-checking your email address in your Preferences; perhaps remove and re-add your email address, and see if that works. Equazcion (talk) 14:31, 18 Nov 2016 (UTC)
To confirm your email address, go to Confirm Email. Click on the button Mail a confirmation code A confirmation code will be sent to the email you provided. Go to your email, and follow the directions. – Ferretwings (talk) 14:43, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
In regards to the email confirmation issue, it seems there is a delay when logging in for the first time on a new device. The problem resolved itself on my PC but when I logged in on mobile I had the same issue. I let the mobile sit for a few hours and it resolved as well.
In regards to not being able to post links, Thank you for embedding that for me. I have edited This Page to better suit the video placement. If someone with more skill than I have wants to do change it for the better and\or wants to DO the tutorial I would be happy to help and provide HQ screenshots to help flesh out the guide. Also, the title needs to be fixed and the deleted discussion page needs to be undeleted so we can discuss it there. Shadowsyllvet (talk) 12:21, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

What does purge do?

The Betsy.png is only partially updated. When you go to the image file, it still displays the old image.

I have an option on the file page, which I don't know would help. "Click to purge the server cache for the current wiki page" What does this do? Could it help? – Ferretwings (talk) 20:21, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

See Help:Cache. Purge rebuilds a page completely, updating any templates that may have changed, and ignoring the server cache. Images on Gamepedia, however, are on a separate cache system that isn't affected by Purge, and can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to update. When it comes to images, all you really do is wait, unfortunately. Equazcion (talk) 22:01, 21 Nov 2016 (UTC)

I think it might be a good idea to add some new entries to the Special:Interwiki table. Notably, a number of crossover items by the 1.3.4 update refer to the Dungeon Defenders 2 Wiki, which could get a dd2 interwiki prefix for example. --SorryThatUsernameIsAlreadyTaken (talk) 11:51, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to do that, or if anyone would notice it, when the interwiki list is generally just for translations. Might be better and simpler to just post external links to the DD2 wiki under a "see also" heading. Equazcion (talk) 18:14, 2 Dec 2016 (UTC)
I created {{dd2 link}} to facilitate this. Currently it produces a simple external link to be placed under "See also." If anyone has ideas about an alternate format or placement feel free to suggest. Equazcion (talk) 08:11, 5 Dec 2016 (UTC)

Login problem on mobile

I'm having a problem when trying to log in on chrome on android. I get this message every time:

"There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Go back to the previous page, reload that page and then try again."

I've already tried deleting cookies but it doesn't help. Has anyone ever got this problem?

--Leonord cursetalk」 19:09, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

I've never seen that message myself. You may want to check/contact Equazcion (talk) 18:16, 2 Dec 2016 (UTC)
I possibly believe it is due to your PC also being active at the same time, so Gamepedia registers you as a 'unwanted user' and prevents you from logging in. I've personally never had that problem on mobile, though it is intriguing. LordofEditing =(Talk)= 20:06, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
I've dealt with this problem with Safari on mobile- not entirely sure what causes it, but what I did to circumvent it was download Puffin (mobile web browser) and login from there. I use Desktop view for convenience, but I think it might work if you use the mobile view as well. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 20:22, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Question about translated pages

How do translated wiki pages work? I speak many languages including spanish so I was looking at the spanish section of the wiki and found this page: . It is missing a file that is linked as Book/es.png. This file exists both as book.png and as libro.png. Therefore my questions:

  • Are translated pages supposed to have their own images with a new title (libro) or to use the same image as the english wiki (book) to save space or use variants like book/es?
  • Should their articles be named book/es or libro? The missing image problem is created from a link to the item's page for the book named book/es that is looking for the item of the same name.

--Leonord cursetalk」 17:52, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

The translation subpage system is a little wonky. I haven't had to deal with them in a while, as most of the ones with serious participation have already been made into their own separate language wikis. Duplicate images are frowned upon, so from what I remember, the major ones had created their own versions of crafting templates etc to deal with this -- where, for example, {{crafting recipe/es}} would have extra fields for translated names, but the internal links still automatically targeted the English names with /es tacked on, while still using the regular English images.
See Block/cz for example -- I think that's the only translation project that still exists as English subpages and has a decent template system in place. I spent a lot of time helping to develop those Czech templates myself. I don't have the time to do that again these days, however you might have a relatively easier time copying the Czech ones and tweaking them for another language. Change order of List of Weapons?

As a user, I look at the List of weapons page to compare my (prospective) weapon with other weapons of that type. I find my weapon using my browser's Search mechanism (Ctrl-F on Chrome). I have never scrolled through the alphabetic list of weapons to find my weapon.

I always first sort the table on damage-per-second (DPS), then on Type. Then I find my weapon. The table sorted that way lets me compare my weapon with other (prospective) weapons of the same type, based on its most significant attribute—damage-per-second.

May I change the List of weapons page so weapons are first grouped by Type, then sorted in ascending order by DPS? (I realize this is a large task, but am willing to do it.) DavidForthoffer (talk) 19:41, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

If the list could be sorted automatically when it is first loaded, that would be great. Otherwise, I'm concerned that organizing the list by weapon type may make it difficult to maintain. Anybody wishing to add to the list would need to first find the proper grouping to add the weapon to. Also, the weapon types are not "official", they are simply a means for grouping and comparing "like" weapons, making the "type" somewhat subjective. Some editors are simply adding weapons to the bottom of the list, and not bothering to place them in the sorted order, so I'd rather not add another complexity for editors wishing to add weapons to the list. I do like your idea, I'm just not sure the groupings could be maintained over time.
I have begun developing a dpl to create the list, but the dpl became quite difficult to code, and I'm now taking a break from it. I think I'll begin with a basic dpl, and add to it over time. – Ferretwings (talk) 23:19, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
Good points. Sure, editors could add a weapon by adding it in some random place, then sorting by DPS, then sorting by type, then moving the definition to its correct place. But it's difficult enough already to accurately maintain. Requiring even a simple procedure to update the list is bound to have errors creep in. DavidForthoffer (talk) 07:38, 25 December 2016 (UTC)

Historical comments should go in History section, right?

Page Guide:Chlorophyte Ore Farming has comments within its Spread Mechanics section talking about Pre-1.3 rules and 1.3 rules. Even though this is a Guide page, it still seems appropriate to me to put the pre-1.3 rules in a (new) section titled 'History' and take out explicit references to "1.3". Should that be done? DavidForthoffer (talk) 11:35, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

They can be removed. Old stuff is retained in the page's wiki history automatically. Equazcion (talk) 11:44, 26 Dec 2016 (UTC)
I would mark all pre-1.3 info with the Console version Mobile Version since it still pertains to them. – Ferretwings (talk) 15:18, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, my bad. If it applies to those it should stay, of course, marked with appropriate icons. Equazcion (talk) 15:23, 26 Dec 2016 (UTC)

Unable to add paragraph to Stardust Armor

I am trying to add trivia to this page, specifically; "The Stardust Armor is a reference to the manga Jojo's Bizarre Adventure; in the third part, Stardust Crusaders, the cast members possess spiritual entities known as "stands," which function similarly to the Stardust Guardian. Specifically, it finds basis in the protagonist's stand, Star Platinum, with which it shares a similar appearance and protective nature towards its user." But it keeps giving me this error message: "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Specific article: Stardust Armor"

The reason this is happening is because via the first discussion here, and multiple edits made by others, it was decided that Stardust armor is not a reference to Jojo's Bizzare Adventure.12345
Due to this, a filter was applied to the page to prevent the conflict caused by these edits to continue, which is what you are experiencing. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 13:42, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
