Old Chinese versiontModLoader 1
Old Chinese/tModLoader 1.3-Legacy-Only Content: This information applies only to the Old Chinese and tModLoader Legacy versions of Terraria.

Throwing weapons or thrown weapons are weapons which are used in medium-ranged combat. The defining trait of throwing weapons is the fact that they are generally consumed upon use. They stack in a player's inventory, with one unit being removed from the stack every time it is used to attack, leaving the slot empty when the last has been used. Many throwing weapons have a chance of being retrievable after being used.

On the PC version PC version, Console version Console version, Old-gen console version Old-gen console version, Mobile version Mobile version, Windows Phone version Windows Phone version, Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, and tModLoader version tModLoader version, the throwing class is not present, with throwing weapons instead dealing ranged damage, and receiving bonuses from items and effects that improve ranged damage, though they do not count as any particular type of ammunition for Shroomite armor or similar effects.

On the Old Chinese version Old Chinese version and tModLoader 1 tModLoader 1.3-Legacy version, throwing weapons are a unique damage type, featuring weapons that deal throwing damage and armor sets that improve the stats of throwing weapons. As a result, in these versions, throwing weapons do not receive most ranged bonuses. They are still affected by ammo reservation effects and the Frost armor's set bonus.

All throwing weapons are available before Hardmode. After this point, they are largely obsolete, though some are replaced by magic and melee weapons that operate in similar ways without being exhaustible.

It should be noted that both Thrown Water and explosives are thrown consumable weapons. However, they neither inflict throwing damage nor are affected by buffs, accessories, or any other factors.

Types[]

Weapons[]

These weapons are special in that they are not consumed upon use, but instead fire ammunition, much like ranged weapons.
