Trapped Chests
A Trapped Chest is a mechanical item that has the appearance of a normal chest. It cannot be used for storage, as it does not have any storage slots. When it is opened, it emits a signal and can be connected with wire.
Any chest can be crafted into a Trapped Chest at the Heavy Work Bench with the desired chest and 10 wire. The Trapped Chest can be sold for 1.

Unobtainable[edit | edit source]
In the game code there exist 2 Unobtainable Trapped Chests: ItemName.Fake_newchest1 and ItemName.Fake_newchest2 (these names are the internal names, as proper names don't exist). They appear to be the initial versions of the Trapped Crystal Chest and Trapped Golden Chest, having remained in the game code when working versions of these trapped chests were, for some reason, later added to the game as different items (instead of fixing the initial ones). They can only be obtained through inventory editors and will, unlike some Unobtainable items, not automatically disappear from the inventory upon game startup.
In the inventory they have the same appearance as the normal Trapped Chest, and when placed into the world they look exactly like the Crystal Chest and Golden Chest, respectively. The character and all items that were used in that moment freeze when the Cursor is hovered over them once they're placed. The character completely stops, even in mid-air, and no items can be used. The character unfreezes once the cursor is moved away from these chests.
The game data also contain several unused Trapped Chest sprites[1]: a trapped version of every Locked Chest (see key), a Trapped Dead Man's Chest (that can't openVerify), a Trapped Barrel, and a Trapped Trash Can. Although Trapped Locked Chests need a key to be unlocked, they will still send a signal if the player tries to open one without having the appropriate key.Verify None of these chests have any item IDs, cannot be obtained even with inventory editors, and rather fit the category of Unimplemented items instead of Unobtainable.
