Signature[edit source]

Good looking signature :) However please take a look at Terraria Wiki:Rules#Signatures. Transcluded signatures aren't really allowed. If you want to host your signature on a page you'll need to subst: it, like this:

  • {{subst:user:Jimbo Jambo/sig}}

Also note that signatures can't generate any more than 255 characters of code. I took the liberty of editing your sig page to reduce the code length, while hopefully keeping the appearance the same. If you have any questions feel free to reply here, and welcome to Terraria Wiki :) Equazcion (talk) 19:14, 3 Sep 2016 (UTC)

Appreciate it, and thanks for the welcome (back. I made some edits a few years ago). I did check the rules before creating my sig but I must have missed that one. Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of that rule? I would think a transcluded template (the purpose of my "sig2" page, to bypass the automatic substitution) would be preferable to generating two lines of wikicode on every page I comment on. Indeed, without it I think I'll have to use the default signature since I'm now barely under 255 characters without including the timestamp. Jimbo Jambo(T) 20:23, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
The timestamp isn't included in the 255 character limit, so that's not a problem (that should probably be noted in the rules). The rule regarding transclusions is there primarily to keep the server load down, but there a few other reasons -- for details you can take a look here: [1]. Equazcion (talk) 20:46, 3 Sep 2016 (UTC)
I see, I was wondering if it had to do with page load time or something. Well, thanks for the input! I'll use a simple signature for now, replace the ones I've left so far, and if it's okay to have personal subpages I'll keep the sig subpage to experiment with for later. Personal subpages in your user space are fine. You could use the sig that's at your /sig page now, as it's under the limit (it just needs to be subst'd), or you can of course use a simple signature if you prefer. Equazcion (talk) 21:53, 3 Sep 2016 (UTC)
