Inventory interface in the 3DS version

The 3DS version of Terraria was published by 505 Games and developed by Codeglue. It is a port of CodeGlue's Mobile version Mobile version. This version contains exclusive content not available on other versions, including enemies, armor, weapons, pets, and bosses, but some exclusive content is also available on the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Windows Phone version Windows Phone version.

The 3DS version is unlike the other console versions, not only because of its exclusive entities, but also because it follows its own update line. A list of all the updates it has had, as well as a few highlights of each one, can be found at 3DS version history.

It can be played on the New Nintendo 3DS family of systems with a higher frame rate, an expanded world option, and the ability to move the camera around using the C Stick, similar to the effect of Binoculars.

The 3DS version's most recent update is equal to PC version PC 1.2.1, with some content from 1.2.2 to 1.3.1. It will not receive any significant updates past this 1.2.1 equivalent.[1]

Purchasing the 3DS version:

  • While the 3DS version still has a store page, the digital version is no longer available, as the Nintendo eShop for 3DS and Wii U shut down March 27, 2023. Retail (cartridge) versions can still be found.

3DS-exclusive content[]

With the exception of the Zapinator, all of the following content is also available on the Windows Phone Windows Phone (the content was removed from the current Mobile version Mobile version in the 1.3 update). Some of the content is available on the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version as well.

Post-Desktop-1.2.1 content[]

The Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version of Terraria is largely equivalent to PC version PC version 1.2.1. However, some content from future versions has been added into the game, mostly from 1.2.2 to 1.3.1. Below is a list of said content.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible to hack some platform-exclusive items into the 3DS version of Terraria by using TerraInveditThreeDee on a jailbroken 3DS console.
  • The Health bar has 2 separate looks, the first one, has large hearts, With a visible shine. The second one appears when the player has 220-500 Health and is very similar to the Old-gen console version's Health bar.
