Cobalt armor

Not to be confused with Ancient Cobalt armor, an armor set dropped by Hornets and Man Eaters.

Cobalt armor is a Hardmode armor set crafted from Cobalt Bars and is the alternative to Palladium armor. Like many Hardmode ore-based armors, Cobalt armor has three different headpiece options, allowing players to focus on magical, melee, or ranged combat respectively, each changing the bonus applied for wearing a full set. A full set also grants a total of +3% critical hit chance and +10% movement speed, from its individual pieces.

Wearing a full set causes the player to display an after-image effect while in motion, similar to the Ninja armor, Shadow armor, and Necro armor.

Crafting a full set with a single headpiece requires 45 Cobalt Bars (135 Cobalt Ore). Crafting all five pieces requires a total of 65 Cobalt Bars (195 Cobalt Ore).

This armor is not the same as the Ancient Cobalt armor set dropped by Jungle enemies; the latter is effectively reskinned Jungle armor, using the former sprites of this set.

Notes

• The Cobalt melee set offers the second-best melee speed bonus in the game, only bested by the Hallowed melee set.

Tips

• With the exception of the Cobalt Helmet, each piece of this set seems to offer less defense than the preceding armor tier, the Molten armor. This may be due to the Helmet being an upgrade to the melee-based Molten Armor; the Mask being upgrade to the ranged-based Necro armor; and the Hat being an upgrade to the magic-based Jungle armor.
