The Console version of Terraria is published by 505Games. The console version is a port of the PC version (developed by Re-Logic), ported by Pipeworks. This version contains 3 exclusive vanity sets not in the Desktop version.
The console version is currently available on 6 different console systems (3 of which are Old-gen). The game is expected to be released on the Nintendo Switch sometime this year.[1]
The Nintendo version is considered separate on this wiki, and has its own page and its own history. It will not receive any significant updates past its current PC 1.2 equivalent.[2]
Due to hardware requirement issues and memory constraints, Old-gen platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita and the Wii U) will not receive significant updates past the 1.2.4.1 PC equivalent (see Old-gen console version).[3][4][5]

Japanese Release
The game was released in the PlayStation network in Japan on May of 2013. To do a proper localization of the game in Japan the game was translated and curated by Spike Chunsoft. This company is the developer of the game series Danganronpa and Shiren the Wanderer so they decided to include costumes of characters from those games to create excitement in the Japanese public.[9] The character Toro (the official mascot of Sony in Japan) appears in a number of Japanese video games.
Exclusive Content
The Japanese console versions seem to have everything the U.S. console versions have, minus Purple Thread and purple Hero's clothes. They also have some extra exclusive costumes, crafted from the exclusive White Thread, shown below. The Japanese wiki mentioned the Japanese 3DS also had Purple Thread, but has no page for it, so perhaps it was translated incorrectly.
