This article is about the sword item. For the enemy of the same name, see Enchanted Sword (NPC).
The Enchanted Sword is a pre-Hardmode, autoswinging projectile sword. When swung, it fires a sword-shaped projectile that costs no ammunition or mana. Both the sword and its projectiles produce lingering sparks that emit large amounts of light. The projectiles can be fired roughly every 1-2 seconds, and dissipates upon hitting an enemy or solid block.
The Enchanted Sword can be obtained from breaking the background sword sprites shown in the above picture. An Enchanted Sword Shrine always includes one of these, and they also spawn in random locations underground. Upon breaking a real background sword sprite, there is a 1/10 chance for an Arkhalis to drop instead.
Its best modifier is Legendary.
Notes
- A small particle effect and the mana recharge "blip" will notify the player when the sword beam's cooldown is over and it is ready to fire again.
Tips
- If found early on, the Enchanted Sword can be a powerful early-game weapon, outclassing many pre-Hardmode melee weapons due to its decently high damage and projectile.
Trivia
- The concept of a sword being stuck in stone originates from the 13th-century poem Merlin by Robert de Boron, in which King Arthur was the only person able to pull a sword from its resting place in a stone. Contrary to popular belief, the sword in question was not Excalibur. Similar themes have since appeared in other media.[1]
- In the action-adventure video game franchise {{wikipedia:The Legend of Zelda}}, the hero Link often pulls the Master Sword from a pedestal, much like the Enchanted Sword Shrine.
- The design bears a strong resemblance, including the blue blade, hilt, and the sword-shaped projectile (much like Link's Sword Beam in some games).

- The design bears a strong resemblance to that of the Enchanted Boomerang, along with their similar names.
