Rope Coils are consumable mobility items that, when thrown by the player, travel in an arc affected by gravity until striking a block. On making contact, a vertical string of ten Rope pieces will be placed, starting from the point of contact and descending until the rope runs out or makes contact with another block below. Once in place, the ropes created by a Rope Coil are ordinary Rope items that can be climbed, expanded with other placed Ropes and collected with a pickaxe.

If a thrown rope coil strikes the top of an already placed rope, it will automatically extend the existing rope. If the coil cannot extend lower than ten blocks because of an obstacle, the excess rope pieces will drop as items. If the coil cannot extended at all, the excess rope will drop as the coil item.
