As of 1.0.6, the cursed skulls seem to stop when hit (I've only tested with the Night's Edge). It isn't quite knockback, but it does make it somewhat easier to keep them away.--Thelizardreborn 18:50, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

They're not knocked back at all, but they're stopped dead in their tracks. Makes the Vilethorn an excellent weapon to deal with them, since it can hit through walls, do decent damage, and hold them still while you switch to something more deadly, or just finish them with the Thorn. One of these dropped a Bone Wand for me, on normal. Either that's a biome drop (and should be noted as such) or the loot table needs to be examined. --Theothersteve7 (talk) 20:14, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Same here. For me, it definitely wasn't a biome drop 'cause the only other biome that was there was the Underground Hallow and I am fairly certain that doesn't make Bone Wands drop. Nixitur (talk) 16:11, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Should be "slab wall" not "brick wall" I believe, based on http://www.reddit.com/r/Terraria/comments/1rdyvh/best_way_to_get_nazar/ and personal testing --Toast

Tested today (2014-11-24): independent of the wall. Spawned rarely, but pretty much everywhere in the dungeon. Couldn't recognize any pattern.--87.152.218.133 09:25, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it's slab and not brick, I experience that they spawn noticeable more often when in a big room of slab walls then if the room contains of brick walls. My hypothesis is that they need slabs to spawn and if the slabs are far off they may still spawn, tho more rarly, but since they can move through walls you will still face them everytime they do spawn unlike Snipers , Rusty Armored Bones and Ragged casters. 213.113.99.222 09:31, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Thricewise

From my experience, brick walls help: After going through two dungeons without a significant brick wall presence, my third two large brick wall areas. If I stand between them (both are just off-screen) with a placed water candle and a held one, I'm averaging a skull every 30 seconds, compared to a 8-10 in half an hour trying it on slabs. Huge difference. I think it's definitely worth noting that they spawn off-screen, so you need bricks off-screen.

In mobile version dragon skulls have a new texture can something plz change this Mobile version is special because of its stuff now someone get a picture of the new dragon skull oh and um how do you add photos?

We will work on uploading the new sprite. You can upload photos by clicking on Upload file on the left hand side of your screen underneath the tools heading. Also, make sure to sign your comments by placing 4 tildes (~~~~) at the end. Chrisf1020 (talk) 02:18, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

How sure are we that they still drop Nazars?[]

Have the drop chances been checked from game files after that last updates? I know, I know, gambler's fallacy, but at 269 killed and no Nazar - but half a dozen bone wands - I'm feeling suspicious.

I'd check myself if I knew how, or could easily find a guide to doing so, so if someone wants to point me at a guide for checking drops in the game's files, go right for that. SamBCUK (talk) 17:54, 16 September 2020 (UTC)

They still do, you're probably unlucky. And the displayed rate is just the mathematical one, it doesn't mean that one will drop once you fought 100 enemies.
Also, in order to increase to spawn rate, you can cover the floor in lava so only cursed skulls will spawn and only wait for them to come to you while using any melee weapon. --Dinoxel talk 18:20, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
I'm aware on the probability, that's what I meant by my reference to the gambler's fallacy. The luck is very annoying. The lava sounds like a handy tip, thanks, and not too much bother with the bottomless bucket and the sponge. How wide an area do I need to have covered with lava? All floor surfaces on-screen and how much further away? SamBCUK (talk) 18:28, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
Well, if everything was too easy to obtain it wouldn't be the same hehe. A ~140*70 area centered on you should make it, it doesn't have to be deep, and if the map shows there's lava, it should be good enough. --Dinoxel talk 18:41, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
