Vanity hat

So far I've found that you can use two goldfish and a glass bottle to make a Goldfish Bowl, which is a vanity hat. 70.242.166.180 18:33, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Underground Goldfish!

Can be found in underground water too. Screenshot: http://pixeld.99k.org/other/goldfish.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.153.246.185 at 07:49, 11 June 2011‎ (UTC)

Suffocation Evidence

I had one flop around for quite a while without it dieing, is it a sure fact it can suffocate? Casperk 01:21, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

I too can not manage to suffocate one. I surrounded one with wooden blocks and put a wood platform under it and dug below the water until there was absolutely no trace of water and sat there for like 5 min to see if this was true (It felt so wrong watching a fish flop around like that...). So I've put a verification tag around the statement and if someone can prove this to be true then please remove it, but for now its staying. If this is proved to be false then the statement should be removed as it then would not be possible to kill a goldfish by suffocation. Let the killing of goldfish commence~ -- ❤Kalilla❤ 07:27, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
The front page was changed to confirmed, but before we confirm it I really would like to see some information on how to suffocate the fish because as far as I know it will just flop around as it pleases and never die. So, for no please have discussion here until there is some more proof before we make this a fact on the front page. Thanks -- ❤Kalilla❤ 23:13, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
AFAIK, the contributor was an anon who's only edit was to change from "fact" to "confirmed", with nothing else. For all we know, it could just be a false info vandalism. I'll revert to fact untill we can get actual proof. happypal (talk • contribs) 06:28, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
I think enough time has passed to say that it is impossible to kill a goldfish by suffocation. The front page was edited by User:85.167.206.95 and honestly I'm not against it at all. I think the front page should reflect this due to lack of evidence saying otherwise. Until there is evidence of it being possible and HOW to do it lets leave it at that for now. I'll fix the front page reflecting so. If you have any objections please say so below this comment, Thanks. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 09:43, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
it wil be cool if could kill it with a harpoon — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.196.3.39 at 11:37, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Image for Goldfish (Item) and Goldfish (NPC)

Why do the Goldfish (Item) and Goldfish (NPC) pages use the same image? In-Game they have different images. I would upload a image for each page but the comment of the image that Happypal uploaded says (colision from image move). User:Josiah2536 06:59, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, the goldfish npc image was moved to File:Goldfish (NPC).png. I had to move it, because some of our templates rely on certain images being in certain places. I thought I had corrected the page, but I guess I miss-remembered. happypal (talk • contribs) 07:27, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
lol miss-remembered :) -- ❤Kalilla❤ 07:34, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

As of 1.2 goldfish sell for only 1 silver

No longer edible

Now releasable instead of edible, apparently, despite the tooltip remaining the same. Assume this happened with the introduction of the Bug Net. --Allthecatphotos (talk) 19:04, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Links in recipes point to the disambiguation page

Don't know the best way to fix this.

Options I can think of:

  • A) Change it, everywhere the recipe appears, to say "Goldfish (item)". (To make this work, I've duplicated Goldfish.png to Goldfish (item).png.)

Examples:

{{crafting recipe
| tool    = Cooking Pot
| item1   = Bowl
| amount1 = 1
| item2   = Goldfish (item)
| amount2 = 1
| item3   = Mushroom
| amount3 = 1
|result=Bowl of Soup <!-- remove this line if copying this back into [[Bowl of Soup]] -->
}}

{{crafts top |}}
{{crafts row |top=y
 | tool = Cooking Pot | toolspan = 3
 | result = Bowl of Soup |
 | Bowl |
 | Goldfish (item) |
 | Mushroom |
}}
{{crafts row
 | tool = Work Bench | toolspan = 2
 | result = Fish Bowl |
 | Goldfish (item) |
 | Bottled Water |
}}
{{crafts row
 | tool = Mythril Anvil | toolspan = 6
 | result = Neptune's Shell |
 | Soul of Fright | 20
 | Coral | 15
 | Goldfish (item) | 15
 | Shark Fin | 5
 | Soul of Light | 5
 | Soul of Night | 5
}}
{{crafts bottom}}
  • B) Lose the disambiguation page. Make it a redirect to the item.
  • C) Add an exception to the crafting and crafts templates to point to the item.
  • Why option A is not ideal: It's pretty clear from playing the game that the item, and not the NPC, is thing you use for crafting. Thus, saying it's an item in all the recipes seems a little silly.
  • Why option B is not ideal: although this option would be less work, disambiguation pages exist for a reason, namely, to resolve ambiguous queries and links.
  • Why option C is not ideal: feels too much like a workaround; needs the work of people with special skills and access.

So I'm leaning toward option A, but maybe the best option is the do-nothing one. Thoughts?

Confirming a bug

I have found the console bug as well. However, I have the three block wall setup and removed one block and it still was rotating. Please let me know if you have experienced this bug as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.224.198.255 at 22:19, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Old-gen Goldfish DO sell

I use the PS3 old-gen console version and have confirmed that Goldfish sell for 1 sliver each. Could someone fix this on the page? Diamondcat6746 (talk) 22:13, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

(ping!) It should be there already. I’ll go check. —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 02:34, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
It is indeed there, check Goldfish#TipsϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 02:51, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
It is not in the table at the top of the page, however... Diamondcat6746 (talk) 22:22, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

Goldfish used to drop when killed

When killing a Goldfish, if you were on an older version, it would drop the Goldfish. Now, however, it only drops when you catch it with a bug net. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.60.253.245 at 04:38, 3 April 2022‎ (UTC)

Correct, it changed in Desktop 1.2.3. I believe this change was included in 3DS as well, as all platforms have the Bug Net. — Ferretwings, Wiki Specialist 06:05, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
