Damage

I think we should research and fill in the actual damage stat of Hellstone, Hellstone Brick and Meteorite. --178.141.117.237 21:01, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Guide

I would suggest we/someone writes a guide on mining Hellstone. happypal (talk • contribs) 12:49, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Edit 27490

Although the total amount of hellstone necessary to craft an entire set isn't a critical piece of information, it could still be useful under some circumstances. I recommend retaining the information, possibly under a separate section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dochoncho (talkcontribs) at 21:22, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

1.0.6 hellstone

many people used hellstone as a (rather in-efficent) light source, that would flicker on and off at regular times, 1.0.6 made it so you can get the "on fire debuff" very easily, it also has less use to be placed other than anti-grieving, and unless you hit it up close with something rapid fire like the harpoon, you can say buh-bye to a VERY cool light source, hellstone brick even doesnt produce ight even though being even less useful than helstone itself, and the only way to get past the lava spawns is to have a readied sand gun (which is an entire pain to get thoroughly if you dont have / farm the materials) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.20.242.10 (talk) at 00:47, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

"Removing Lava"

I am unsure whether or not the new water effect also pertains to sand on lava. As you know, water in terraria 1.1 can no longer be displaced by completely sealing it, it just stays behind the object you placed into it. 71.87.113.136 13:37, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Lava works just like water for this (so you can't remove it with sand/silt) A lot of the information on this page is outdated now actually, such as swarms of imps being a big problem. (most of the spawns in the underworld are bats and slimes now) and bone serpents being dangerous (they are the lowest damage mob in the underworld other than the slimes) Rahler 03:08, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Dynamite destroys Hellstone

I tried blowing up hellstone with dynamite, it successfully blew up — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.170.138.248 at 02:00, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Dynamite no longer breaks hellstone — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.200.92.110 at 21:22, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Xbox One cost

The cost to make an hellstone bar is 3 hellstone and 1 obsidian now. 95.155.216.11 22:21, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Metal Detector does in fact detect hellstone

I can confirm that in 1.4 right now, the metal detector does in fact detect hellstone. I do not know if this is a current bug, or if it is intentional. I am on a master world, and pre-hardmode, but when I get close to hell, I start having it tell me hellstone is near and it will not deviate unless a heart or chest is nearby as well, making it useless at that point. The notes right now are incorrect on this point. --ChthonicOne (talk) 20:17, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Is Hellstone non-renewable?

I think so. If so I believe that it's the only ore in Terraria not to be infinitely renewable one way or another. We could put something about that in Trivia. Prototype033 (talk) 10:41, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

ore

So, luminite is not actually considered ore, as it doesn't award the player the ooh shiny achievement — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.33.17.112 at 23:04, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

While it is correct that mining Luminite does not grant the achievement, that is not the definition of an ore item. As per the Ores page, "[o]res are primary crafting materials necessary for game progress. They generally must be crafted into bars at a Furnace, after which they can craft several essential tools, weapons, armor, and other items. Some items require raw ores themselves, most commonly bricks and potions. Raw ores can also be used as plain blocks for construction." Luminite matches this definition, hence it is considered an ore. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 21:14, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
