The information describes upcoming Terraria features.
Features described below not yet included in the game, and is subject to change. They may or may not end up in a future Terraria release.

Terraria 2 is to be the second installment of the Terraria series. Little is known about the nature and content of the game, and there is currently no release date. Terraria's lead developer, Redigit, explained that while the game will have "a lot in common with the original", it will also be "quite different". He "want[s] to expand on the whole Terraria universe". Specifically, he revealed that there are likely going to be infinite worlds, more biome diversity,[1][2][3] and cohesive lore.[4] Cenx mentioned "many new hook mechanics"[5] and noted that Terraria 2 will be based on a different engine than Terraria,[5] which uses the .NET Framework and Microsoft XNA.

Terraria 2 has been in some form of development since February 2012.[2] It was originally mentioned that Redigit would be working on Terraria: Otherworld before developing Terraria 2,[6][7] but Terraria: Otherworld was cancelled on April 13, 2018.[8] Redigit has since returned working on Terraria full-time.[9][10] In May 2019, Redigit and Cenx mentioned plans to develop a successor to Terraria,[5] but as there have been no news apart from that in recent years, the state of the game is currently unknown.

On April 30, 2022, Redigit made a twitter post about what people would add to the 1.4.4 labour of love update, responding to multiple answers as 'a Terraria 2 idea'.[11] This was likely mostly satirical, but it's still possible.
