    Request to be added

Hello. I am a long time player of Terraria Desktop, and I have much experience with it. I would love to be added as an editor so I can help update the wiki with new and changed items and features from the 1.4 update. I have already been working on updating the upcoming features with new information, and I would be glad to continue to quickly bring out accurate update information. Request to be added

Hi, I'd like to be added to the editors list. I've been helping around the wiki recently creating item pages, copyediting, and reporting vandalism. I play Desktop and have basic familiarity with the source code, so I can pull up information about item functionality, vendor sales, etc without too much trouble. On the wikicode side, I've learned how to use a good number of the standard templates+infoboxes and I'm hoping to pick up more through practice. You can check my contributions page to see where I've helped out, or contact me in the Discord under the same username. Cheers! Breathlessblizzard (talk) 22:38, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

I've added you. Thank you so much for your help :) – Ferretwings (talk) 23:06, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

    Request to be added

Hello! I'd like to be added to the editors list. I mostly play mobile, but can readily test pretty much anything on the Console version (latest version, Xbox One), and will sometimes be able to test some Desktop things. I'll hopefully be able to be editing a lot more actively, and am currently working to achieve consistency, especially with the flood of 1.4 articles. Thanks for your consideration! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 17:57, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

    Request to be added

Hi! I'd like to be added to the editor's list. I have (what I'd like to think) an extensive knowledge of most Terraria Desktop version mechanics, as well as features and content. I've joined pretty recently in order to help with 1.4 content additions, and I helped to start adding happiness quotes for the happiness quotes project to most NPCs, as well as preparing to start the DPS project (to find the average DPS of weapons). Thank you for reading, no hard feelings if I don't make it. DanZeMan (talk) 12:49, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, my name is Trialsphere, I am constant player of the game and have over 340 hours on Nintendo Switch. I know the game mechanics well, tend to recognize glitches fairly quickly when they pop up, and know most of the tips or tricks a player might need. I would love to be added as an editor so I can help add information that might have been missed on pages and help the terraria community as much as I can. I thank you for your time and consideration. It's possible to found lootable dirt walls in the Underground

I was plating a bit Terraria and suddenly i found a campfire in the underground, i read you could find with some money, but it was generated in a very strange way, and what surprised me the most is that when i try to destroy the dirt wall, the wall fell, i could be able to loot the dirt wall, after doing a couple of tests, I discovered that you can loot dirt walls from the campfire caves in the underground, making these not imposible for collect natural dirt walls.

Sorry for my bad english, but i had the desire to tell everyone this and i don't knew how to do this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeiver (talkcontribs) at 04:11, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

    Prices

Sorry if I have done something wrong for myself, but for me the skeleton merchant, traveling merchant, the normal merchant, and probably others’ shop prices are in defender medals. For example, the merchant’s price for an iron hammer is 0.16 defender medals and the skeleton merchant’s price for a torch is 0.005 defender medals. Is there something that I messed up on my settings or something, or did some guy come and change the prices? NPC shop info

As of posting this, (4/28/2019) all the NPC shop graphs will only display "Always available" or "3ds" if it isn't available on desktop and Console, but is on 3ds. (mobile and old gen console don't contribute) I tried to edit it, but all the shops were edited correctly on the graph editing window, they just weren't showing up normally. I don't know what it's about, or if it's being taken care of, but I just wanted to let the staff know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.66.230.25 at 20:12, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

    CheatSheet

Hello! Can you help me? I have a question about Terraria... Is there a problem with playing Terraria using CheatSheet without all the achievements on Steam? Can I be banned? Well I changed my account on Steam and on this account I do not have all the achievements! 177.64.214.144 22:44, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

I think the forums or steam forums can answer this question better, but i did see cases there archievements were cheated from other games (not terraria). I don't recommend doing that since that i think it could get you VAC banned (if terraria has VAC protection), but it doesn't hurt asking around. -- Murrayzero (talk) 01:10, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Will cross platform come to terraria?

will PC,XBOX,PS4 players be able to play together? 72.95.17.246 04:44, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

While cross-platform multiplayer is certainly a much-requested feature, it is not possible at the moment. Currently, none of the different platforms have the same content. With the "One Terraria" project, which aims at aligning the content and erasing exclusives, cross-platform might be feasible in the future. However, since Old-gen console version Old-gen console and 3DSNintendo 3DS version do not receive further updates, it would be limited to PC version PCConsole version ConsoleMobile version Mobile, at best. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:59, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

    Calamity needs help

Normally I wouldn't be posting this here, rather on the Terraria calamity wiki, but no one is responding. the people that run this wiki are experienced and are quick to make improvements. unfortunately, the calamity wiki is not. I was wondering if the community of the Terraria wiki can help the calamity wiki by making guilds to vanilla Terraria bosses. I can't make a page because I don't have a twitch account, so I thought that some of you could help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.66.230.25 at 20:45, 1 July 2019‎ (UTC)

Currently we are trying to finish all of the boss guides for Calamity Bosses. Once that is finished, we will look into adding guides for Vanilla bosses for Revengeance and Death Mode. If you have any further questions regarding the Calamity Wiki, please ask them either on a talk page on the Calamity Mod Wiki, or join the Calamity Mod Discord Server. Questions regarding the wiki can also be sent to me via Discord @Merkalto#1939. Thank you for being patient while we work on higher priority guides, and have a nice day. New Guide Subject

    Hello,

I am currently preparing for the Wall of Flesh fight in my world, but other than artificial biomes, I don't know how to prepare. A guide article would be helpful to me and other players.

    Sincerely, 74.67.34.141 20:15, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I'm not sure what information exactly you are looking for. You are creating artificial biomes in preparation for the Wall of Flesh fight? Are you missing information about the actual fight or about the aftermath, Hardmode? Refer to Guide:Wall of Flesh strategies for very detailed recommendations for the fight against the Wall of Flesh and to Guide:Walkthrough § Activating Hardmode for tips about what to consider before activating Hardmode. If these do not cover your problem, please specify what you "do not know how to prepare" for in particular. Thanks! :) --Rye Greenwood (talk) 21:55, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

    The page quote on Truffle

I already posted this on Talk:Truffle, but since nobody seemed to notice it, I decided to post it here, too.

The current quote in the top of the page reads:

I feel like [Name of Truffle] is a bit misunderstood, he really is a fun guy.

    — The Dryad

I think the quote would look better and sound more natural if the "[Name of Truffle]" was changed to "The Truffle", like this:

I feel like The Truffle is a bit misunderstood, he really is a fun guy.

    — The Dryad

I can't do this change myself, because the page is protected. 46.132.188.41 04:31, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

The admins seem to have yoinked all the game quotes (ETA: Indeed, all the game texts) into a protected file, which is not unreasonable as they're obvious targets for mischief. However, altering all the quotes with [Name of NPC] in that way wouldn't be a bad idea. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 10:42, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
Correct, all game texts are gradually being replaced by {{gameText}} and similar templates. The data source of {{gameText}} is not going to be altered, because its content comes directly from Terraria's source code, but the variable parts of game texts, like the one you pointed out above, can be changed upon transclusion. Check the template's documentation for information on how to achieve that (although it looks like you already have a grasp of it, judging by the example you provided).
Regarding the protection of the Truffle page: It looks like the page was a frequent vandalism target about three years ago. Since that behavior might have changed, I have lifted the restriction and everyone should be able to edit the page. If vandals, for whatever reason, excessively target this page again, protection can be re-applied. Note that it was only a semi-protection – if you create an account, you gain edit access to semi-protected pages, among some other benefits.
Apologies for not responding sooner on Talk:Truffle and thanks for bringing up this issue! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 12:01, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
Judging by your recent edits, it looks like you were referring to the "Quotes" section of NPC pages as well, not just the large decorative quote on some pages; I did not quite understand, then. I agree that "[Name of NPC]" does not look too good on those decorative quotes and I have nothing against changing those to "the NPC". However, this should not be done in the "Quotes" sections, in my opinion. That section is part of the exact documentation of the game and "the NPC" does not document the fact that that part of the quote changes depending on the current name of the NPC in the world. If you have no objections, I would like to go ahead and revert the edits. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 17:46, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Please go read the [NPCs] page; from the introduction: " If killed, they will also respawn after a delay, as long as a suitable vacant house is still available.". (I'm about to add a qualifier there, but that's the meat.) --MentalMouse42 (talk) 10:52, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

The wiki is not really the most appropriate place to ask a question like this. Showing off is better done on, for instance, the official Terraria Discord, where you will find a larger (and most likely more interested) audience and maybe even someone who wants to contest with you. As this is the wiki, I can only refer you to the Guide:Travel, where you can find information which might be useful for you.
For the future, please stick to questions regarding a wiki issue, an anomaly in the game, or something alike, which we can discuss as editors. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 16:36, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

    Bug in "Ranged weapons" page

Hey. I'm not sure if it is only on my PC, but when I open https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Ranged_weapons page, list of ranged weapons seems not to load. Instead of, I am having this messsage:

    Nintendo Switch?

I thought I read somewhere here that the Switch's gameplay is similar to the consoles, and when I have been looking through the Wiki (which thank you so much for this, this is an amazing piece of art.) for information, sometimes it doesn't apply, like for example, I couldn't seem to make the Angler Tackle Bag. I was wondering if (and when) there was going to be an edit of the Wiki to include the Switch's data.

    Thank you very much. <3

    Spritefyre 22:50 PST 7/20/19

So far the Switch version is only equivalent to Console 1.3, so items that were introduced in Desktop 1.3.1 such as the Angler Tackle Bag (and other wire related items such as the Grand Design, Yellow Wrench, etc.) are not available on Switch. The best way to know if an item is on Switch right now is to look in the history and see if it is included. Hopefully if the switch catches up to the base console version, this issue will be short-lived, but if that doesn't happen, there will most likely be a split for the switch version at some point. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 10:44, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
Hey there, Spritefyre here again, I just looked up the Cell Phone because we found that a while ago, and have been working super hard to get it, we have everything but the Metal Detector, so we are super close. We have been so excited about that and have been so hype every time we get a piece. I looked at the Cell Phone's history for the desktop version and it said 1.3.0.1, so I am confused what that means in reference to the Switch.
    Thank you so much!! ~<3
    73.109.57.19 00:43, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi! "Desktop 1.3.0.1" means the 1.3 update which introduced a massive amount of new content. Generally, any content introduced in Desktop 1.3 should be available on Switch as well, since they aimed to achieve parity with that version. However, there should also be a "" section in the history section on all pages with Switch content. You will most often find "Switch 1.0.711.6: Introduced." or sometimes even already "Switch 1.0.732.3: [...]." there. 1.0.711.6 was the initial release of the Switch and 1.0.732.3 is the latest patch. Hope this helps!
Oh and by the way, you can add links to wiki articles by wrapping the page title in two brackets, like so: [[Cell Phone]]

Headgear facial-hair compatibility: how best to implement?

Terraria helmets frequently cover my character's facial hair. Sometimes this is reasonable (full-head helmets, OK, shadow-face hoods like Spectre, understandable) and sometimes it really isn't (Night Vision, even the Rain hat last I checked). Since other headgear does work with facial hair (the Viking Helmet and the Rune Wizard hat, if memory serves), I've been wanting to get some sort of reference for headgear that works with facial hair. Before launching on a Check Everything and listing the results, thought it'd make sense to file the request and see 1) if there's a cleaner way to do it (maybe there's a flag on items that can get referenced and nobody ever thought to do so?) 2) if it'd be better to list on each item's page, in a table somewhere, etc.

    Thanks. 208.89.33.43 18:18, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

There is a flag on items in the code, but rather than being a flag, it's more like a long if statement. I edited Vanity items to show what items show hair (all pieces do not by default). 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 22:32, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

    Theories page?

I know that wiki pages should be non-objective, but should there at least be a page for info relating to theories? (ie: cenexs confirmed that the moon lord is cthulhu's brother). I can't find one anywhere, and this seems like a large part of the game — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.251.21.68 at 23:52, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Correct, there is currently no page exclusively dedicated to game theories. Since most trivia is related to a specific game entity (in your example the Moon Lord), it is mostly sufficient to just list the items of trivia in the "Trivia" section of the page. A page solely dedicated to speculation would hardly be of encyclopedic value, as it directly runs contrary to the intent of an encyclopedia – informing the reader in a neutral and objective way about undeniable facts. Game theories are indeed an interesting field, but they are much better suited for forums like the Official Terraria Forums, the official Discord, or Reddit or other social networking sites. These offer better interaction opportunities, so that theories can be discussed and developed in an organic way.
We do include trivia at times, but of course it is always a controversial matter what to include and not to include. The community was able to come up with some clear trivia rules, based on the experiences of the eight years this wiki already exists for. In general, a statement by a Re-Logic member is a perfectly valid source and can usually be documented right away (e.g., sticking to the Moon Lord example: "Terraria's final boss was originally going to be the Moon itself descending on the world, but Cenx later stated that this idea had been scrapped."). Regarding the specific item you provided: Cenx later admitted that claiming the Moon Lord would be Cthulhu's brother was a joke.

    Corrupted/Crimson Walls

The Wiki pages do not say if Corrupted or Crimson walls spread the biome to walls and blocks or only walls. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.235.133.212 at 21:47, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing this out. Biome walls spread their biome to other walls, but not to foreground blocks. See Biome spread § Background Walls for the full details. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 02:02, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
