A Jungle and an Underground Jungle on a large map.
The Underground Jungle is a dense network of small caverns, composed primarily of Mud, pools of Water, Thorny Bushes, and Beehives. It is located below the Surface of the Jungle biome and extends through to the Cavern layer.
The Underground Jungle always contains the Jungle Temple and 3 to 7 Bee Hives (depending on world size).
Common treasure rooms are Jungle Shrines, Underground Cabins, and Living Mahogany Trees.
In Hardmode, all enemies have a chance of dropping a Jungle Key () / Jungle Key Mold ().
Furthermore, the Underground Jungle undergoes several minor changes throughout the course of Hardmode:
- Upon entering Hardmode, it becomes prone to being converted by the Evil Biome and starts spawning Chlorophyte Ore and
Life Fruit. - After defeating one mechanical boss, Life Fruit
begin spawning /spawn at a faster rate. - Once all three mechanical bosses have been defeated, Plantera's Bulbs begin spawning.

The Underground Jungle can be found directly underneath the surface Jungle biome. It starts around the middle of the Underground layer, at these depths:

- Honey and Honey Blocks spawn naturally in small amounts in the vicinity of a Bee Hive.
- Living Mahogany Trees are now generated in the Underground Jungle.
